Helldivers 2 Update 7.0.0 Unleashes New Illuminate Foes and a Terrifying Biome
Arrowhead Game Studios has deployed a massive patch for Helldivers 2, introducing new Illuminate enemy types and a biome described as 'full of fresh horrors.' The update also raises the player level cap and includes numerous other changes detailed in the 7.0.0 patch notes.
The update introduces two distinct Illuminate adversaries: the Crusher, which regenerates under sustained fire, and the Wretch, a nimble foe that leaps and dodges to disable player weaponry. Additionally, a new SEAF modifier deploys friendly NPC troops equipped with stim pistols and heavy machine guns to assist in missions.
Progression now extends to level 300 with fifteen new ranks and titles. The patch also streamlines assisted reloading so players can retain their backpacks, expands the emote wheel to eight slots, and coincides with the launch of a Warhammer 40,000 crossover warbond.
This substantial update could significantly reinvigorate the Helldivers 2 community by addressing long-standing quality-of-life requests. The assisted reload rework and friendly NPC allies may lower coordination barriers, making cooperative play more accessible to casual gamers. Meanwhile, the raised level cap and crossover content could extend the game's lifespan, though the challenging new enemies might frustrate less skilled players, potentially creating a divide in overall satisfaction.
