Pokémon Go Rewards Players with Flawless Mewtwo and Rare Master Ball
Pokémon Go is offering a limited-time reward that includes a Mewtwo with perfect 100% stats and a unique background, along with a highly sought-after Master Ball. Players simply need to log in to claim this generous one-off prize. The promotion aims to encourage both returning and active users to engage with the game.
The free reward arrives after last month's invite-only Times Square event, which guaranteed attendees a perfect-stat Mewtwo and sparked widespread backlash. That event also featured an exclusive background, now confirmed to return later. Developer Scopely Explore frames the giveaway as part of the game's 10th anniversary, though many players see it as damage control. The Master Ball alone was previously sold for $7.99, making this bundle notably valuable. The offer runs until September 6, with no indication of a repeat.
This giveaway could reshape player expectations around rare rewards, as free distribution may devalue prior grinding or purchases. It may also signal that developers are increasingly willing to use generous compensation to mend community trust after controversial events. For casual players, the ease of claiming could boost short-term engagement, while dedicated fans might feel their investments were undermined. The move may set a precedent for how future in-person exclusives are handled, potentially influencing player loyalty and spending habits.
