European allies issue joint rebuke over Israeli West Bank construction plans

The governments of France, Germany, the UK and Italy have jointly condemned Israel's decision to invite bids for a large settlement project in the occupied West Bank. They called the E1 development illegal under international law and warned that it would further isolate east Jerusalem from the rest of the territory. The four countries urged Israel to abandon the plan and cautioned businesses against participating in the tenders.
