Late Actress's Custom LA Farmhouse Closes at $18M

The late actress's five-bedroom farmhouse in Los Angeles sold for $18 million, well below its initial $28.9 million asking price. Keaton built the 9,200-square-foot residence in 2011 using 75,000 reclaimed bricks from Chicago and a black-and-white interior palette. The property, featured in her 2017 book 'The House That Pinterest Built,' includes a library, guesthouse, and pool.

The sale price represents a steep reduction from the $28.9 million Keaton originally sought when the property first hit the market in March 2025, with the asking price later trimmed to $22.9 million before closing. The actor purchased the land for $4.7 million in 2011 and spent years developing the residence, which she documented in her 2017 design book.

The farmhouse's distinctive character comes largely from its 75,000 reclaimed bricks transported from Chicago, which Keaton initially considered painting white before embracing their natural texture. Inside, her signature black-and-white aesthetic carries through the kitchen, library, and other living spaces. The property also includes a guesthouse and pool, with Josh Flagg of Compass handling the listing and Emil Schneeman of Berkshire Hathaway representing the buyer.
