Phoebe Bridgers to Host Planetarium Listening Events for New Album Lost Weekend
Phoebe Bridgers is organizing listening parties for her new solo album Lost Weekend in over 40 planetariums worldwide. The full album will be played inside these venues. The events are part of a unique promotional rollout.
The listening sessions run from August 10th through the album's release on August 14th, with screenings scheduled across nine countries. Attendees will experience either a custom dome show by night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi or a laser display by Laser Fantasy, while their devices are locked in Yondr pouches.
Beyond the album rollout, Bridgers is preparing for a major tour next month. She also has a film role in the upcoming A24 movie *Primetime*, directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson, which hits theaters on September 25th.
These immersive, phone-free listening sessions could reshape how audiences engage with new music, offering a communal, distraction-free alternative to typical streaming rollouts. By pairing the album with planetarium visuals, Bridgers may attract casual listeners who value experiential events, potentially boosting physical attendance and word-of-mouth. Other artists might follow suit, but the limited venues and strict no-device policy could also exclude some fans who cannot travel or prefer digital accessibility.
