Tehran vows strong reaction to looming US sanctions

Iran's foreign ministry said on Monday that Tehran would retaliate forcefully against new US sanctions, including measures targeting countries that cooperate with Washington. The threat comes after weeks of deadlock over the Strait of Hormuz, where the US has not been able to break Iran's control over shipping. Iran's currency also fell to a record low as the US prepares to announce the sanctions.
