LG's 1,000Hz IPS Monitor Hits Preorder with $1,000 Price
LG has opened preorders for its UltraGear 25G590B, a 24.5-inch IPS monitor that achieves a native 1,000Hz refresh rate at 1080p. Priced at $999.99, it includes support for FreeSync Premium and G-Sync, plus Motion Blur Reduction Pro. Preorders from LG before August 31 come with 5% MyLG rewards and two years of Premium Care for $1.
The UltraGear 25G590B distinguishes itself from rivals by reaching 1,000Hz at full 1080p resolution, whereas competing models like the Acer Predator XB273U F6 and AntGamer ANT275PQ MAX only achieve that rate at lower resolutions. The AntGamer model relies on a TN panel, which some gamers may find less visually appealing than the IPS technology used in LG's offering.
Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and a single DisplayPort 2.1, alongside ergonomic adjustments for tilt, height, and swivel. LG also includes UltraGear RGB lighting. Preordering directly from LG before August 31 earns buyers 5 percent back in MyLG rewards and two years of Premium Care coverage for one dollar. Amazon currently lists the monitor at a discounted price of $932.
This monitor could push the high-refresh-rate market forward, though its practical value remains debatable since most modern games cannot generate 1,000 frames per second. Competitive gamers may benefit from reduced motion blur, but casual users might find the price steep for a 24.5-inch screen. The technology may eventually trickle down to more affordable models, potentially reshaping expectations for display smoothness across the industry.
