Joint ceasefire monitoring team arrives in eastern DR Congo to verify truce

A ceasefire verification mission comprising representatives from the DR Congo government, the Rwanda-backed AFC/M23 group, and regional observers has deployed to South Kivu province. The team arrived in Minembwe by UN helicopters and will also visit Uvira, following a Switzerland-mediated roadmap for peace talks. The deployment comes amid ongoing fighting despite previous ceasefire agreements.
