Peacock Orders Three-Part Documentary on Rise and Fall of 'The Wendy Williams Show'
Peacock has given the green light to a three-part documentary about 'The Wendy Williams Show,' set to premiere in 2027. The series will celebrate the program's cultural impact while exploring the challenges Williams faced and her exit from the show. More than 20 former staffers will share their experiences in the project.
The three-part series, carrying the working title *Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show*, is slated for a 2027 debut on Peacock. It will examine the syndicated program's 14-year run, which concluded in 2022 amid Williams' ongoing health struggles. The project draws on perspectives from more than 20 former staff members, offering an inside look at the show's production and its eventual unraveling.
Executive producer Suzanne Bass, who held the same role on the talk show for 13 seasons, is attached to the project alongside producers from EverWonder Studio. This new documentary follows the 2024 Lifetime film *Where Is Wendy Williams?*, which faced a legal challenge from Williams' court-appointed guardian before airing as scheduled.
This documentary could reignite public conversation about the pressures of daytime television stardom and the vulnerabilities of aging media figures. For viewers who followed Williams' career, it may offer closure or raise new questions about how networks and producers handle a host's declining health. The project's focus on staff testimony could also influence how audiences perceive workplace dynamics in high-stakes entertainment environments, potentially prompting broader reflection on industry accountability.
