Southern French village devastated by rare tornado, dozens injured

A powerful tornado struck the village of Pomas in southern France's Aude department on Monday, damaging around 300 of its 476 homes and destroying the town hall and nursery school. Thirty-nine people were injured, two seriously, with 17 hospitalized, though no fatalities were reported. The mayor described the scene as resembling a wartime situation, and authorities called the tornado of rare intensity.
