Polaroid and Pokémon Team Up for Nostalgic Instant Camera Collection
Polaroid has unveiled a new line of Pokémon-themed instant cameras, film, and accessories to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. The collection includes three camera models inspired by Pikachu, Poké Balls, and Sylveon, with prices ranging from $15 to $140. Preorders are available now, with a full release scheduled for October 5.
The three-camera lineup pairs Polaroid's compact Go Gen 3 model with Pikachu and Sylveon designs, while the larger Now Gen 3 adopts a Poké Ball color scheme. Accessories include a $15 strap, and the special-edition film frames each shot with Pokémon-themed borders, with double-packs of Go film priced at $25.
This marks Polaroid's largest collaboration to date, arriving amid a broader 30th-anniversary push from The Pokémon Company that has already included a celebrity-studded ad campaign featuring Lady Gaga, Trevor Noah, and Blackpink's Jisoo, plus fashion partnerships throughout the year.
This collaboration could tap into the purchasing power of millennial nostalgia, potentially driving impulse buys among adults who grew up with Pokémon and now seek tangible keepsakes in an increasingly digital photo landscape. It may also broaden Polaroid's appeal to younger collectors drawn to the franchise, though the $100–$140 price point for cameras suggests a deliberate targeting of established fans with disposable income rather than casual or child buyers.
