Intel reveals UCIe-based design for low-cost Wildcat Lake processors

At Hot Chips 2026, Intel detailed its entry-level Wildcat Lake processor, which leverages the UCIe chiplet interconnect to keep costs down. The chip uses Intel's 18A node and was designed as a budget alternative to premium laptops. Intel's lead engineer explained that UCIe allowed the company to cut compute costs while maintaining necessary communication between chiplets.
