BenQ's premium ScreenBar Max targets dual-screen setups with a steep price
BenQ has introduced the ScreenBar Max, its first monitor light bar designed for dual-monitor configurations, combining a bias light and desk lamp to reduce eye strain. The device offers high-quality illumination but carries a $289 price tag, with an optional $39 stand. While it delivers premium features, cheaper alternatives may provide similar functionality at a fraction of the cost.
The ScreenBar Max combines two lighting functions in a single unit designed to span dual monitors. Its bias light projects rearward to soften contrast between screen glow and darker walls, while the forward-facing desk lamp illuminates the workspace. A mmWave presence sensor detects when a user sits down and gradually raises brightness rather than switching on abruptly.
Users can adjust brightness for each light independently, though color temperature is shared across both, ranging from warm 2,700K to cooler 6,000K. A single mode button cycles through bias light, desk light, or both before adjustments can be made. The product was tested over five days and performed reliably, with the sensor avoiding false triggers from nearby movement.
The ScreenBar Max targets a growing segment of remote workers and multi-monitor users who face prolonged screen exposure. At $289, it may appeal primarily to professionals who prioritize eye comfort and premium build quality, but its steep price could limit broader adoption. Cheaper alternatives may offer
