Mitchell Cheers Wife's New Role in 'Bel-Air' Spin-Off 'Hilary'
Donovan Mitchell expressed excitement over his wife Coco Jones being cast as Hilary Banks in a new 'Bel-Air' spin-off titled 'Hilary' for Peacock. The show follows her character moving to New York to prove herself beyond her Bel-Air connections. Mitchell and Jones married earlier this month, with NBA peers like Jalen Brunson and Jaylen Brown in attendance.
The spin-off extends the *Bel-Air* universe, which itself reimagined the classic 1990s sitcom *The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air*. Jones’ character, Hilary Banks, will relocate to New York City after a job offer from a celebrity chef, aiming to build an independent identity away from her family’s influence. The project is in development at Peacock, though no premiere date has been announced.
Mitchell and Jones married earlier this month, with several NBA players—including Jalen Brunson, Jaylen Brown, and Bam Adebayo—reportedly attending the ceremony. The Cavaliers guard publicly celebrated the casting news, marking a high-profile crossover between the basketball and entertainment worlds for the couple.
This story could resonate with fans of both sports and pop culture, blending celebrity marriage coverage with a major streaming project. It may highlight how athletes’ personal lives increasingly intersect with entertainment ventures, potentially drawing new viewers to the spin-off. For Jones, the role could expand her mainstream visibility, while Mitchell’s public support might humanize NBA stars beyond the court. However, the impact remains limited to niche audiences unless the show achieves broader cultural traction.
