Medicare's new weight-loss drug discount leaves out patients with certain conditions

Medicare launched an 18-month pilot offering GLP-1 weight-loss drugs at $50 per month for some enrollees. However, patients with conditions like sleep apnea or Type 2 diabetes are ineligible, frustrating many. One retired professor with a BMI of 42 and a history of heart surgery was denied despite his high risk.
