Camilo's 2020 Hit Reaches Billion-View Milestone on YouTube
Colombian artist Camilo's 2020 single "Vida de Rico" has surpassed one billion views on YouTube, becoming his second music video to achieve that feat after "Desconocidos" with Mau y Ricky and Manuel Turizo. The song previously topped Billboard's Latin Airplay chart in January 2021. Camilo is currently touring worldwide and working on his fifth studio album.
The music video for "Vida de Rico" was directed by Evaluna Montaner, Camilo's wife, adding a personal dimension to the project. The track spent multiple weeks atop Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay chart after reaching No. 1 on the overall Latin Airplay ranking in January 2021, during its 16th week on the chart.
Camilo, a six-time Latin Grammy winner, is currently balancing his worldwide tour—which spans nearly 40 cities across more than 15 countries—with work on his fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2024's "cuatro." His tour began in Spain in June and will conclude in his native Colombia in December.
This milestone could reinforce the global reach of Latin pop music on major streaming platforms, potentially encouraging more investment in Spanish-language music videos and international touring. For emerging Latin artists, Camilo's success may serve as a benchmark, demonstrating that heartfelt, family-oriented content can achieve massive commercial visibility. The achievement could also strengthen YouTube's position as a primary discovery platform for Latin music audiences worldwide.
