Roku Scores Exclusive Sunday Night NWSL Broadcast Package
Roku's streaming platform will become the sole broadcaster for a set of Sunday night National Women's Soccer League matches, covering the remainder of the 2026 season and all of 2027. The agreement includes eight games this year and 25 next year, starting with a Seattle Reign versus Houston Dash matchup on August 30. This expands Roku's existing NWSL partnership, which previously offered highlights and replays, and follows the league's termination of a separate deal with Victory+ over missed payments.
Roku's new live-match package builds on its existing NWSL Zone hub, which previously offered highlights, replays, and league programming while directing fans to other broadcast partners like CBS Sports, ESPN, Ion, Prime Video, and the league's own NWSL+ service. The streamer's sports portfolio also includes X Games, Formula E, and Bassmaster fishing coverage, though this NWSL deal represents its most prominent live rights acquisition to date.
The agreement arrives shortly after the NWSL terminated a separate broadcast arrangement with Victory+, a fledgling sports streamer, over missed rights payments. Roku's head of sports noted the platform's reach extends to more than half of U.S. streaming households, while the league's chief marketing officer emphasized the partnership's role in creating consistent, accessible destinations for fans as women's soccer continues gaining momentum.
This deal could meaningfully expand the NWSL's audience by placing live matches on a free, widely accessible platform rather than behind paywalls. Casual viewers and cord-cutters may discover the league more easily, potentially growing women's soccer's fanbase. However, fragmenting games across multiple services could also create confusion for fans tracking their favorite teams, and the league's recent Victory+ termination highlights ongoing financial fragility in sports streaming partnerships.
