Mica's deep entanglement with Solid Rock Church began in her early teens, where she and her sisters became worship team members and she eventually rose to worship leader—a position of unusual responsibility for someone her age. Her first marriage, to a church sweetheart named Jeremy, was officiated by Miller himself, who then served as a spiritual mentor to the young couple. The affair that ended both marriages was revealed publicly from the pulpit, with Miller framing it as a "moral failing" while the couple was 36 and 21 respectively. Mica's family, particularly her sister Sierra, immediately recognized troubling possessive behavior in Miller and voiced their disapproval, creating a rift that would persist through the years leading up to Mica's death.
