Meta to pay states $18B in landmark youth safety settlement

Meta has agreed to pay more than $18 billion to settle lawsuits from nearly all U.S. states alleging its platforms harm young users. The settlement, pending court approval, includes $17 billion for states and $1 billion for Texas, plus platform changes. The funds will support state programs addressing social media-related mental health issues.
