Qatari PM's Tehran trip targets resumption of US-Iran negotiations

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is scheduled to visit Tehran on Thursday to discuss reducing tensions and restarting dialogue between Iran and the United States. The visit comes as the US-Israel conflict with Iran approaches its sixth month, with a previous ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar having collapsed in July. Washington has meanwhile pledged to increase economic pressure on Tehran through sanctions on its trading partners.
