Algeria wildfires kill 12 and injure dozens as heatwave persists

At least 12 people have died and 54 others were injured as wildfires swept through northeastern Algeria, according to Interior Minister Said Sayoud. The fires, fueled by a severe heatwave, broke out across provinces including Jijel, Bejaia, and Tizi Ouzou, with dozens of families evacuated. Firefighting teams have contained many blazes, but operations continue in Bejaia and Jijel.
