Nvidia to buy Hugging Face for $12.9B, strengthening its open-source AI foothold
Nvidia has reportedly agreed to acquire Hugging Face, the open-source AI model hub, for $12.9 billion. The deal would help Nvidia protect its AI chip dominance as major labs develop their own hardware. However, the agreement is not yet signed and could still fall apart.
Hugging Face, founded in 2016, has become a central repository where developers share and download open-source AI models.
