SpaceX unveils $100B Louisiana spaceport, aiming for 30 Starship flights per day

SpaceX plans to build Starbase Louisiana on 125,000 acres in Vermilion Parish, with construction starting in 2027 and the first launch targeted for 2029. The facility will include over a dozen launch towers and support more than 30 Starship flights per day, making it the largest launch site by cadence. The project is expected to create over 11,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.

The 125,000-acre site on Pecan Island, formerly Exxon Mobil property, will host five launch facilities with two pads each, along with propellant production, power generation, and employee housing. Louisiana's incentive package includes a PILOT agreement with a $20 million upfront payment and $25 million annually for 25 years, plus a $25 million charitable contribution to the Community Foundation of Acadiana.

With over a dozen launch towers supporting 30-plus daily Starship flights, the facility would lead globally in launch cadence, though Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome remains larger
