Plaud's earbuds pair with eSIM case to let users command AI assistants remotely

Plaud has introduced the Plaud One, a pair of earbuds designed for AI-assisted note-taking and call recording, priced at $249. The accompanying case supports an eSIM, enabling users to interact with Plaud's AI agents without needing a phone or computer. The device offers up to 25 hours of total recording time and includes 300 free transcription minutes monthly, with additional plans starting at $8.33 per month.
The Plaud One's eSIM-equipped charging case is the key differentiator, allowing the device to function as a standalone AI interface without a paired smartphone. This positions the product as a wearable gateway for interacting with AI agents that can connect to productivity tools like Gmail, Notion, and Slack. The earbuds themselves feature 12mm drivers, active noise cancellation, and a five-meter voice capture range for the case.
Plaud enters a crowded field that includes Viaim, Anker, and YC-backed Pocket, all pursuing AI note-taking hardware. The company reports 2.5 million users and $100 million in annual run-rate revenue. The limited-quantity launch appears designed to test market demand before committing to the form factor, with agentic capabilities and a credit-based task system planned for future updates.
This product could shift how people interact with AI assistants, potentially reducing reliance on smartphones for everyday productivity tasks. Professionals who frequently record meetings or take notes may find the standalone eSIM case convenient, but the subscription model for transcription could create ongoing costs. The device may also face adoption barriers, as users already comfortable with AirPods or other earbuds paired with note-taking apps might see little reason to switch, limiting its impact to a niche audience of early adopters.
