Plaud enters earbud market with AI-powered One Explorer Edition
Plaud has launched its first AI earbuds, the One Explorer Edition, priced at $250 and now available for preorder. The earbuds capture conversations and work with an AI agent that integrates with platforms like Google Calendar, Notion, and Slack. The company positions the device as a hands-free interface for agentic AI systems.
The earbuds function both as traditional wearables and as stationary recording devices when left in their case on a table during meetings. Plaud Agent can generate finished emails, documents, and presentations from captured conversations, with users able to select from multiple frontier models through Plaud Intelligence rather than being locked into one provider's AI ecosystem.
Privacy provisions include GDPR and HIPAA compliance, encrypted data storage, and audio kept on-device or in the Plaud App. Cloud uploads occur only for transcription and summarization features, with encryption applied throughout. Plaud states it does not use recordings for model training unless users opt in, and its AI lab partners face the same restriction. The company separately processes US-based user data.
These earbuds could shift how people interact with AI systems, moving from screen-based prompts to ambient, hands-free conversation capture. Professionals in meetings may find productivity gains, but always-listening devices could raise workplace privacy concerns as they become more common in shared spaces.
