Beatles' Former Stylist Slams Biopic Hairpieces as Inaccurate

Leslie Cavendish, who styled the Beatles' hair in the 1960s, critiqued the wigs worn by actors in Sam Mendes' upcoming biopic. He said Paul Mescal's portrayal of Paul McCartney shows too much forehead and that Ringo Starr's wig looks particularly poor. Cavendish had previously offered his expertise to the production but received no response.

Cavendish first met Paul McCartney in 1966 through Jane Asher while working as a 19-year-old assistant at Vidal Sassoon's salon. He claims he attempted to contact the production twice—once leaving a voice message for the hair department head and once emailing Mendes' agent's assistant—but received no response, with the assistant noting production was too far along.

The hairdresser critiqued each actor's wig individually, noting McCartney's should have been more swept back and textured, while Ringo's wig he described as particularly poor, comparing it to practice wigs dropped carelessly onto stands. He also noted George's beard was too neat compared to the real Harrison.
