Ossoff condemns reported racist social media posts from former aide to rival

Senator Jon Ossoff has criticized a report that a former staffer for his Republican challenger Mike Collins shared images of a swastika and KKK robes. Ossoff called the posts 'disgraceful and disqualifying' and demanded Collins address the matter. The staffer, Preston Parra, has denied any current affiliation with Collins's campaign.
The report stems from a Washington Post investigation into Preston Parra, a 24-year-old who interned for Collins in 2024 and later received $7,700 for fundraising consulting in May 2025. Parra’s X account, which he described as “satirical,” included images of a swastika, himself in KKK robes, and repeated racial slurs. He claimed Collins never saw the account because it was private.
This follows a separate CNN report last month revealing that Collins’s son-in-law, David Alan Scheer II, is a white nationalist with a history of sharing antisemitic and Nazi imagery. Collins’s campaign has denied any current ties to Parra, calling the posts “vile” and “completely unhinged,” while Ossoff has demanded Collins release communications with white supremacists.
This controversy could further polarize an already high-stakes Georgia Senate race, where control of the chamber hangs in the balance. Voters may weigh whether Collins’s denials sufficiently distance him from associates’ extremist views, potentially shaping independent and suburban turnout. The repeated revelations may also amplify national scrutiny of white nationalist influences in mainstream Republican campaigns, affecting public trust in political vetting processes and fueling broader debates about accountability for staff conduct.
