Halloween Horror Nights Adds Interactive 'Obsession' Character Nikki

Universal's Halloween Horror Nights will feature an interactive appearance from Nikki, the character from the film 'Obsession', allowing fans to encounter her at various park locations. Creative director John Murdy said Nikki will be played by traditional actors, unlike last year's Art the Clown. The addition was made late in development and is based on the character's final look from the movie.
The interactive Nikki experience marks a departure from typical Halloween Horror Nights encounters, as the character will speak scripted dialogue drawn directly from the film rather than relying on silent scare tactics. Guests must follow Universal Studios Hollywood's social media channels to obtain a password that unlocks special interactions, adding a scavenger-hunt element to the evening.
Murdy incorporated a practical detail from the movie: the One Wish Willow customer service phone number featured in a key scene. Curry Barker, the film's director, recorded an exclusive voicemail message for attendees who dial the number, creating an additional layer of immersion that connects the park experience directly to the source material.
This integration of a horror film character into a theme park environment could reshape how studios promote theatrical releases, blending marketing with experiential entertainment. Younger horror fans who discovered "Obsession" through social media may be drawn to the park, potentially expanding Universal's audience beyond traditional haunt enthusiasts. The interactive, dialogue-driven approach could also influence how future film properties are adapted for live attractions, though its success will depend on execution and fan reception.
