Rockstar’s livestream, hosted on Netflix, capped a turbulent week in which the hacker group Cyberleak leaked gameplay and story details—an incident the studio publicly described as “heartbreaking.” The presentation also followed a Dazed magazine feature that detailed Rockstar’s dedicated Los Angeles studio for NPC behavior, plus deep character customization tied to eating, exercise, and fashion collaborations. Notably, some clothing items may be locked behind the $100 Ultimate Edition, which has already drawn fan backlash.

The dual-protagonist system echoes the structure of GTA V but adds a relationship mechanic where player choices can alter the bond between Jason and Lucia. While the visuals impressed, early scenes drew criticism for dim lighting that obscured Black characters’ features.
