Mobile dual-comb spectroscopy spots methane leaks while driving

Researchers built a vehicle-mounted mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy system that detects methane in real time during motion. It successfully identified simulated natural gas leaks and mapped gas diffusion across outdoor sites. The technology could help cities and industries locate hidden methane emissions from pipelines and other sources.
