Australian Rock Trio DMA'S Finally Reaches Summit of ARIA Albums Chart

After a decade and five studio albums, DMA'S have secured their first number one on the ARIA Albums Chart with their self-titled release. The band previously peaked at number two with both 2023's 'How Many Dreams' and 2020's 'The Glow'. This album marks their first under a new deal with Wonderlick and Sony Music, and was self-recorded in a Sydney studio.
The album marks a notable shift for the trio, who previously released all their records independently through I Oh You, part of the Mushroom Group. Recording took place in a Glebe studio with significant rock history, having hosted sessions for David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, and the Bee Gees. The space was originally established by Australian music figure Col Joye.
The band's catalog has generated over 535 million streams since their debut, with their 2016 cover of Cher's "Believe" serving as a pivotal breakthrough. That rendition won triple j's inaugural Hottest 100 "Like A Version" countdown in 2023, the same year they claimed the ARIA Award for best group. An east coast Australian tour supporting the new album runs through November and December.
