Leaked DLSS 5 library from NBA 2K27 works in Control, but halves frame rate on RTX 5070 Ti

A leaked Nvidia DLSS 5 library, discovered in NBA 2K27's early access, has been modded into Control by developers. The neural rendering feature currently only works on Blackwell GPUs, and on an RTX 5070 Ti at 4K it reduced performance from 71 to 35 FPS. The technology is expected to launch this fall.
The leaked DLL was discovered in NBA 2K27's early access build, and modders using the RenoDX toolset injected it into Control, applying the neural rendering to character models with seven adjustable parameters covering style, intensity, tone, and structure strength. The technology currently runs only on Blackwell GPUs, and the test on an RTX 5070 Ti at 4K showed a significant performance drop from 71 to 35 FPS, though the developer did not specify the DLSS 5 settings or internal rendering resolution used.
Nvidia first demonstrated DLSS 5 in March on two RTX 5090s, but has since distilled the model to run on a single GPU, according to a SIGGRAPH 2026 presentation. The official launch is expected this fall, and the performance impact seen in this modded test may not reflect the final optimized release, as Nvidia could still implement additional optimizations before launch.
This early leak suggests DLSS 5 could be demanding even on high-end Blackwell hardware, which may influence gamers' upgrade decisions and performance expectations ahead of the fall launch. If the performance penalty persists, adoption could be limited to enthusiasts with top-tier GPUs, potentially widening the gap between those who can access advanced neural rendering features and those who cannot
