Olivia Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival has raised $10 million for nonprofits supporting women and girls. The funds will be distributed among ten organizations, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and reproductive rights groups like Planned Parenthood. Rodrigo expressed gratitude to ticket buyers, artists, and sponsors for making the donation possible.
The $10 million figure was announced at a Santa Monica press conference on August 28, where Rodrigo credited the legacy of Lilith Fair, the pioneering 1990s festival that proved women could headline and lead major touring events. She noted that before Lilith Fair, women were told audiences wouldn't come and sponsors wouldn't sign on.
The festival's lineup spans multiple generations of female artists, from punk pioneers Bikini Kill to contemporary acts like Chappell Roan, Doechii, and Mitski, with special appearances from Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, and Karen O. Katseye withdrew from the bill after one member sustained an injury.
This fundraising model could reshape how major music events approach philanthropy, potentially encouraging other artists to attach substantial charitable components to their tours and festivals.
