Deadly Russian drone attack on Kyiv-area warehouse kills 27

A Russian drone strike on a warehouse on the outskirts of Kyiv killed at least 27 people and injured 42, according to Ukrainian authorities. Hundreds were evacuated from the Bucha district area after the attack, which triggered fires and explosions. The strike is part of a pattern of intensified long-range attacks on civilian infrastructure.

The strike hit the village of Myla in the Bucha district shortly after 8pm Friday, igniting a blaze accompanied by secondary explosions that complicated firefighting efforts. Regional governor Tymur Tkachenko reported more than 380 people evacuated from the surrounding area, including children, with at least six wounded in the immediate aftermath before the death toll climbed to 27.

Ukrainian prosecutors have opened a negligence investigation into the unnamed company operating the warehouse, examining whether explosive materials were stored legally and with proper permits. Prime Minister Sergiy Koretsky drew parallels to a July attack on a munitions depot in nearby Vyshneve, where state-owned operators failed to meet safety standards despite residential proximity. He called the repeat failures "criminal negligence" during the fifth year of full-scale invasion.
