Paris police officer and LGBTQ advocate assaulted in Marais district
Pierre Picavet, president of the LGBTQ police association FLAG!, was attacked with a bottle as he left a bar in central Paris, suffering head injuries and internal bleeding. The suspect, who allegedly used homophobic slurs and ignored Picavet's police identification, was arrested and found to be intoxicated. Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire condemned the assault as a hate crime, vowing the city remains a refuge for all.

The suspect, detained without prior criminal history, was intoxicated at the time. STOP Homophobie, a French advocacy group, publicly condemned the violence and shared images of Picavet's injuries, emphasizing that anti-LGBTQ attacks remain a persistent problem despite legal protections in France.
