Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Debut Raises $20M for Women's Causes

Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine drew 45,000 attendees and featured an all-women lineup across two stages. The event raised $10 million for women- and girls-focused charities, a sum that Melinda French Gates matched, bringing the total to $20 million. Despite extreme heat, the festival ran smoothly with hydration stations and numerous women-owned vendor booths.
The festival's two stages hosted 14 acts, with the main Dandelion stage featuring Mitski, Doechii, Chappell Roan, and Rodrigo herself. KATSEYE withdrew after member Megan injured her ankle, though three members still made a brief appearance. Doechii's set included a shout-out to women, gay, and trans audiences, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Vendor areas prominently marked women-owned businesses with flower key symbols, and the grounds featured extensive floral decor alongside a decorated balloon and running carousel. Organizers deployed hydration stations throughout the sports complex to combat the 90-degree heat, which helped the first-year event run with minimal logistical issues despite the conditions.
This festival could signal a growing appetite for women-led music events that pair entertainment with philanthropy, potentially influencing how other artists structure large-scale concerts. The $20 million raised may set a new benchmark for artist-driven charitable giving, while the all-women lineup could encourage more inclusive festival bookings industry-wide. Attendees, particularly young women and girls, may feel greater representation in live music spaces, possibly inspiring future organizers to prioritize similar models.
