Mateer has been preparing against a Venables defense focused on generating more turnovers this offseason, forcing him to be meticulous with ball placement and timing. With road trips to Michigan, Georgia, and the Cotton Bowl clash with Texas looming in the next five weeks, the Sooners want to establish rhythm early.
