Scottie Scheffler shot a four-under 66 to win the Tour Championship and claim his second FedEx Cup title. He earned $10m, moving past Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour's career money list. Viktor Hovland finished second, three strokes back.
Scheffler’s final-round 66 was the only sub-par score among the last three pairings, as he leaned on precise iron play to overtake Hovland. The victory, his 22nd career win, pushed his earnings to $130.4 million, surpassing Woods’ $120.9 million after 25 years atop the money list. He joined Woods and McIlroy as the only multiple FedEx Cup champions.
Hovland faded with a 72, while debutant Ryan Gerard finished third. McIlroy’s erratic 69 included an eagle and five bogeys. Alex Fitzpatrick matched Scheffler’s 66 to tie for fourth, capping a season that included a DP World Tour win and a Zurich Classic title with his brother Matt.
Scheffler’s dominance may reinforce the PGA Tour’s star-driven appeal, potentially boosting viewership and sponsorship interest as he becomes the tour’s all-time money leader. His consistency could also raise expectations for younger players, who may see his metronomic style as a benchmark.
