Stellar Blade Switch 2 Port: Developer Reveals Technical Details and New Gameplay Footage

Shift Up's CTO DongKi Lee discussed the Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade at gamescom, confirming it includes all previously released DLC and seasonal content. The port features HD Rumble adapted from the PS5's haptic feedback data, along with touchscreen, gyro, and mouse control support. Over five minutes of new gameplay from the Switch 2 edition was also shown.
Shift Up's CTO DongKi Lee detailed the technical work behind the Switch 2 port at gamescom, emphasizing that the team converted the exact PS5 haptic feedback data to work with Switch 2's HD Rumble rather than recreating it from scratch. The port also incorporates touchscreen, gyro, and mouse control options, while memory optimization and internal logic changes were required to fit the console's specifications.
Lee noted that the porting process has helped the studio prepare for future multi-platform releases, though he declined to confirm whether upcoming titles like Stellar Blade: Blood Rain will follow the same path. He also teased unannounced surprises for the Switch 2 version. Lee cited The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as a personal inspiration for pursuing console development.
This port could broaden Stellar Blade's audience significantly, bringing a previously PlayStation-exclusive title to Nintendo's large installed base and potentially influencing how other developers approach cross-platform releases. The technical work on HD Rumble translation may set expectations for how third-party studios handle Switch 2 adaptations. Players who only own Nintendo hardware could gain access to a major action title, while the tease of exclusive content may affect purchasing decisions. The port's success could signal whether more PlayStation titles eventually reach Nintendo platforms.
