LEGO Announces Wallace & Gromit Motorbike and Sidecar Set

LEGO has unveiled its first Wallace & Gromit set, depicting the duo on their vintage motorbike and sidecar from A Close Shave. The 1,038-piece set is priced at $99.99 and releases October 1, designed by Sébastien Esnault. It includes details like goggles, a cracker box, and a diamond reference to The Wrong Trousers.
The set, part of LEGO’s Ideas line, originated from a fan design that won a 90s-themed competition. Builder Sébastien Esnault focused on rounded bricks to mimic the claymation aesthetic, and the final version refines the characters’ faces and the motorcycle’s frame. Priced at $99.99 for 1,038 pieces, it targets adult builders with an 18+ rating.
Beyond the motorbike’s faithful shape and license plate, the set hides nods to the franchise: Gromit’s wearable goggles, a cracker box, and a diamond referencing *The Wrong Trousers*. While the flying feature from *A Close Shave* is absent, the figures’ heads and arms are poseable, allowing subtle expression changes.
This release could deepen LEGO’s appeal to nostalgic adult collectors, especially fans of British stop-motion animation. By blending a niche IP with intricate building, it may expand the Ideas line’s cultural reach, encouraging more fan submissions. However, its 18+ designation and premium price could limit younger audiences, positioning it as a display piece rather than a play set—potentially reinforcing LEGO’s shift toward adult-focused nostalgia-driven products.
