Elite women's programs headline Las Vegas showcase with record NIL pool

Six top women's college basketball teams, including defending national champion UCLA, will compete in the second annual Players Era showcase in Las Vegas on Dec. 19-20. The event features a mid-seven figure NIL purse, believed to be the largest for a single women's college sports event. Matchups include rematches of last season's national semifinal and title game, with UCLA facing South Carolina and Texas.
EXPANDED:
The showcase pairs six ranked programs in a two-day round-robin format, with each team playing twice. ESPN will broadcast all six games across its networks, with three on the main channel. This year's event carries no tournament champion, shifting the focus to strength-of-schedule benefits for NCAA tournament seeding rather than a trophy.
UCLA's rematch against South Carolina revisits last season's national title game, while the Bruins also face Texas, the team that handed them their only loss during the 2025-26 campaign. USC and Notre Dame join as first-time participants, extending their non-conference rivalry to a third straight season. Last year's inaugural event guaranteed participating teams at least $1 million in NIL compensation.
