Hulu Pulls Plug on Alex Cooper's Dating Show After One Cycle

The streaming service has decided not to renew the reality series, which premiered in late March and marked Cooper's debut in unscripted television. The show, hosted by Gabby Windey, followed 22 singles competing for romance aboard a luxury yacht but failed to match the buzz of other Hulu unscripted hits. Cooper's production company continues to expand with other projects on YouTube and Hulu.
The series premiered March 26 and was hosted by Gabby Windey, a former *Bachelorette* lead and winner of *The Traitors* season three. It featured 22 contestants competing for romance aboard a luxury yacht, with challenges determining access to amenities. Despite its premise, it failed to match the audience engagement of Hulu’s other unscripted hits like *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives* and *The Kardashians*.
Cooper’s Unwell Productions remains active, having launched *Unwell Winter Games* on YouTube and planning *Unwell Summer Games* for September. A scripted Hulu project, *You Deserve to Know*, starring Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, is also in development. The cancellation follows a June Vanity Fair report alleging a toxic workplace at Unwell, which Cooper and her husband disputed.
This cancellation may signal that star power alone does not guarantee success in the crowded reality TV market, especially when competing against established franchises. For viewers, it suggests streaming platforms are quick to prune underperforming originals, potentially reducing variety in dating formats. For Cooper, the setback could shape how her production brand is perceived, though her expanding slate may mitigate long-term impact on her industry influence.
