UCLA Parts Ways with Athletic Director, Names Interim Replacement

The financial troubles that prompted Jarmond's dismissal spanned his entire tenure, with the athletics department operating at a loss every fiscal year since 2020. The accumulated shortfall reached $241.1 million, ultimately requiring a university bailout to cover the gap.
On the field, results were mixed. Football reached only three bowl games and finished last season at 3-9, while men's basketball peaked early with a Final Four appearance in Jarmond's first year before declining. The women's basketball program provided a brighter spot, reaching the Final Four last season. Harris, a former UCLA soccer goalkeeper, brings 35 years of Lakers business experience to the interim role.
