Knicks center Towns steps forward as buyer of $900K Judge patch card
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns confirmed he purchased a rare Aaron Judge trading card for $900,000 at auction. The card, a 2026 Topps Chrome dual Gold Logoman patch autograph, is the fourth most expensive Judge card ever sold. Towns, an avid collector, will receive the physical card after submitting the redemption code.
Towns' purchase continues a pattern of high-profile hobby activity. He previously sold a Yoshinobu Yamamoto one-of-one rookie autograph for $72,000, offered a six-figure bounty for a John Cena WWE card, and launched his own breaking company, Big Bodegas Breaks. His Instagram showcases a collection spanning Michael Jordan, Stephen Curry, and numerous other grails across sports.
The card's design commemorates Judge's consecutive MVP seasons through dual gold Logoman patches worn during 2024 and 2025, with the slugger signing "Back 2 Back MVP" beneath one patch. While the $900,000 price is substantial, it remains far below the $11 million private sale of the comparable Ohtani dual Gold Logoman card to Secure Collectibles in July.
High-profile athlete-collectors like Towns could further legitimize sports cards as a mainstream investment asset, potentially drawing new buyers and raising price benchmarks for ultra-rare memorabilia. Such public
