TP-Link's debut Wi-Fi 8 router line opens preorders, mesh system slated for early 2027
TP-Link has confirmed that its Archer 8 Ultra BN19000 tri-band router will be available for preorder starting September 30, featuring 18 internal antennas and aggregate speeds up to 19 Gbps. The company also detailed its Deco 8 Ultra BN22000 mesh system, which offers up to 22 Gbps and covers 9,800 square feet in a three-pack, but it won't ship until Q1 2027. Additional Wi-Fi 8 products, including a travel router and adapters, are planned for Q2 2027.
TP-Link's initial Wi-Fi 8 rollout prioritizes the standalone Archer 8 Ultra, which arrives first with preorders opening September 30 in select regions. The router's 18 internal antennas and 19 Gbps aggregate throughput target high-demand households, while 10 Gbps wired connectivity suggests a premium positioning aimed at users with multi-gigabit broadband.
The Deco 8 Ultra mesh system follows later, with a three-pack covering roughly 9,800 square feet at up to 22 Gbps. TP-Link's StabilityEngine incorporates Enhanced Long Range and Distributed Resource Units to strengthen connections for low-power IoT devices at coverage edges, while Unequal Modulation and MCS technologies address interference. The company plans additional Wi-Fi 8 products—including a travel router and client adapters—by Q2 2027, using silicon from Broadcom, MediaTek, and Qualcomm.
Wi-Fi 8's emphasis on reliability over raw speed could meaningfully improve everyday connectivity for households with many smart devices, where Wi-Fi 7 often underdelivered in real-world conditions. Early adopters and large-home owners may benefit most, though the staggered launch—with mesh systems delayed into 2027—could slow mainstream uptake. As more devices support the standard, consumers may find that upgrading extends the useful life of their networks without needing to chase ever-higher speed figures.
