Mexico's national basketball team won both of its qualifying games in Zacatecas, defeating Colombia 112-86 and Brazil 79-74. The team set a FIBA record with 28 three-pointers in the first game and improved to a 5-3 record in the qualifying tournament. Coach Omar Quintero highlighted the growth of the program's support staff, and the team now faces lower-ranked opponents in upcoming matches.

Mexico's two victories in Zacatecas lifted their qualifying record to 5-3, placing them fourth in their group standings. The 28 three-pointers against Colombia established a new FIBA benchmark, with young guard Moisés Andreassi contributing seven triples in that contest and another decisive basket against Brazil.

Coach Omar Quintero noted the program's support structure has expanded from roughly 17 staff members in 2021 to more than 30 today, including medical personnel, nutritionists, and video analysts. The roster blends veterans like Paul Stoll and Pako Cruz with emerging talent, and upcoming fixtures against Chile and Colombia offer a favorable path toward the 2027 World Cup.
