Keaton Takes Director's Chair for Western Reunion with Freeman

Michael Keaton will direct and star in the Western thriller "Rode to Ruin" opposite Morgan Freeman. Keaton plays a retired U.S. Marshal who has spent decades hunting his wife's killer, while Freeman portrays an aging outlaw with fading memory. The film marks their first on-screen collaboration in nearly forty years.

The project unites two actors whose only prior on-screen pairing was the 1988 drama "Clean and Sober," making this a rare reunion nearly four decades in the making. Keaton brings directorial experience from two previous features, while Freeman's Western credentials include a role in Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven," giving him established genre familiarity.

The screenplay, penned by R. Dean McCreary, centers on a forty-year manhunt that reaches its climax when the Marshal's quarry begins losing his memory. Freeman is currently appearing in the Taylor Sheridan series "Lioness," which has drawn critical praise for its ensemble cast, while Keaton continues to balance acting and directing duties.
