WVU Athletes Expand NCAA Eligibility Lawsuit Ahead of September Hearing

West Virginia basketball players Brenen Lorient and Javan Buchanan have added football cornerback Jason Chambers and baseball pitcher Ben McDougal to their lawsuit against the NCAA. The amended complaint seeks a fifth year of eligibility for all four athletes, with a hearing scheduled for September 24. Chambers may miss the Mountaineers' first three football games if the injunction is not granted before then.

Chambers, who rejoined the team midway through fall camp, started all 12 games for the Mountaineers' secondary last season, recording 34 tackles, four passes defended, and one interception. McDougal, despite battling injuries, declined a redshirt year to remain part of West Virginia's run, eventually becoming a key bullpen piece who recorded the final outs in the Morgantown Regional and delivered clutch pitching against Troy at the College World Series.
