Marlins Add Blalock and Pauley for September Roster Expansion

The Miami Marlins recalled pitcher Bradley Blalock and infielder Graham Pauley to fill out their expanded 28-man roster for September. Miami entered the final month at 69-69, four games behind in the National League wild-card race. Blalock posted a 5.61 ERA at Triple-A, while Pauley provides infield depth after Xavier Edwards' thumb injury.

The Marlins' decision comes as they sit at .500 with 24 games remaining, trailing San Diego by four games for the final wild-card spot. Blalock, acquired from Colorado in January, spent the season at Triple-A Jacksonville where he posted a 5.61 ERA. Pauley, a 13th-round pick in 2022, appeared in 13 games for San Diego in 2024, batting .125 with two home runs. He adds defensive flexibility at third base and other infield positions, particularly valuable after Xavier Edwards' thumb injury.
