Range Rover Electric debuts with 333-mile range and $138k price tag
Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled the fully electric Range Rover, which offers an estimated 333 miles of real-world range. The luxury SUV starts at $138,000 and retains its off-road capabilities. The company reports 80,000 potential buyers have already expressed interest, with many new to the brand.
The electric Range Rover shares JLR's MLA platform with its combustion siblings, with the battery and motors adding just 165 pounds over the V8 model thanks to the elimination of differentials and driveshafts. Twin permanent-magnet motors produce 542 hp and 627 lb-ft, with silicon-carbide inverters enabling sub-millisecond response times and 24 percent greater efficiency than the older I-Pace motors.
JLR reports 80,000 interested buyers, with 70 percent new to the brand and 20 percent already owning an EV. The $138,000 starting price undercuts restomod electric conversions by roughly half while offering modern safety systems, airbags, and full factory warranty coverage.
The Range Rover Electric could broaden EV adoption among luxury SUV buyers who previously saw electric vehicles as compromising capability or prestige. With most interested buyers new to the brand, it may draw customers from other premium marques and accelerate the high-end segment's electrification.
